Signing up with epost is easy, free, and must be completed by December 1 in order to receive your assessment notice online the following year.

Note: epost does not apply to other BC Assessment mailings or correspondence to do with the appeal process.

Frequently asked questions about epost 

Can I receive my assessment notice online rather than by mail?

Yes, if you have access to the Internet, you can receive your assessment notice online via epost, a web-based service that delivers the mail online for Canada Post.  Sign up is easy and free.

If you would like to receive your assessment notice online, you must subscribe by December 1 in order to receive your assessment notice online the following year.  Please visit the epost website at and follow the directions posted there.

Note: Certain First Nations properties are not eligible for this service due to system limitations at this time.

If I choose to receive my assessment notice online via epost can I also receive a paper copy by regular mail?

No, you may only choose one delivery method.

What are "bulk mail" assessment notices?

"Bulk mail" refers to assessment notices where the owner and mailing address is identical for five or more properties throughout the province. We create and apply a 4 character alphanumeric bulk mail code for these properties. When the assessment notices are produced each December, we bundle, and distribute the bulk mail assessment notices in one package rather than many individual envelopes. This ensures consistency of mailing addresses for property owners and reduces postage costs.

Who should I contact if I don't currently have a bulk mail code but think I should have one?

If you own five or more properties in BC, contact BC Assessment and provide the roll numbers (located in the top right hand corner of your assessment notices).  If you are determined to be eligible, a bulk mail code will be initiated on your behalf.

What is my Personal Identification Number (PIN) and where can I find it?

If you are an individual property owner, you have a 10-digit Confidential PIN printed in the "Important Information for Property Identification" box in the right hand corner of your assessment notice.  If you are a bulk mail client, you have a 4-digit PIN printed in the same place and manner as for an individual.

I am a first time home buyer and have not received an assessment notice yet. How do I obtain a PIN?

Contact us by completing and submitting a PIN Request Form. Complete the indicated information and then submit the request. If you include a daytime phone number, we will contact you to provide you with your PIN number by phone within a few days. 

How are BC Assessment PINs assigned?

Each time a new individual, couple, or company purchases a property in BC, they are assigned a new unique PIN. The exception is if that individual, couple, or company previously owned property.  In that instance, their existing PIN is applied.

Does my PIN change if my mailing address changes?

No, if you update your mailing address with BC Assessment, your PIN will remain the same.

Does my PIN change if my name changes for any reason (e.g. marriage, divorce, executor, or company rename?

Yes, once the change has been officially registered at the Land Title and Survey Authority, contact us by completing and submitting a PIN Request Form.  If you include a daytime phone number, we will contact you to provide you with your PIN by phone within a few days.

Note: If you are a previous epost client and wish to continue receiving assessment notices online, you will need to reapply o BC Assessment as a mailer using your new PIN.

What mailing address do I put on the initial epost application for sign-up (prior to adding BC Assessment as a mailer) if I don't live in Canada or the United States?

epost only accepts Canadian and US mailing addresses in its sign-up application process. Key in the mailing address of your property in British Columbia in this instance on the application screen. However, ensure that you still key in your correct and full overseas/international mailing address on the "adding BCA as a mailer" screen.

What name, mailing address, and daytime phone number do I key when adding BC Assessment as one of my mailers?

Ensure that you key the name(s) and mailing address exactly as they appear on your latest assessment notice. epost "pre-populates" the BC Assessment screen with your name, first line of mailing address and postal code from your initial epost sign-up application screen.

If you apply using your second name, or a shortened version of your given name, that results in a mismatch on your BC Assessment application and could cause your application to receive your assessment notices electronically to be rejected.

Please also key your daytime phone number to the BC Assessment application screen as it is not automatically pre-populated from your initial epost application.

If you wish to change your mailing address, please either complete a Change of Address Notification Form or call BC Assessment at 1-866-valueBC (1-866-825-8322).

How do I change the delivery method for my assessment notice back to mail from epost?

To return to receiving your assessment notices by mail, log on to your epost account and delete the BC Assessment mailer.  This must be completed by December 1 to receive your assessment notice by mail the following year.
